There Are No Ordinary People

I'm fine, just fine...fine...really,I'm just fine! Not! I have a useless arm and I'm sleeping on the recliner instead of in my bed and taking a shower is difficult, to say the least, and I need help to get dressed...ugh! But...no pain. Well, only if I do something careless, and I'm giving each little move careful thought, believe me! I am fortunate my clumsy fall did not do more damage than a dislocated shoulder, and I expect (hope, pray) that all will be back to normal in two weeks. Thanks for all the concern and expressions of love. What would I do without you! You light up my life!
I read this quote by C.S. Lewis and thought you might enjoy it. How amazingly insightful he was, how well he understood our eternal nature--
It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal...it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit. The Weight of Glory and Other Addresses, 1965, p. 14-15
I always thought my children were more valiant spirits than I and from the time you were babies I wondered if you were not my older brothers and sisters. I felt it such an honor to be able to guide your footsteps on this part of the eternal journey, and beg your forgiveness for not being a better mentor. I am counting on Heavenly Father knowing how much I love you and how noble my intentions are and were...I believe he does. This thought from C.S. Lewis makes me look at each person I have interaction with and acknowledge our familial tie, and I wonder how their mortal journey is going. More than likely, it is rough-going and they just might benefit from a smile, a friendly greeting, and an encouraging word when appropriate. It's the least we can do for our fellow immortals!
