Raising Toddlers
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Toddlers are a challenge, true, But patience is the key. They smile and scream and holler, Just as cute as they can be.
Sometimes I really wonder If I'll make it through the day. Catastrophes already--ten! And one more on the way.
Is this my sacred heritage? Teething, toys--oh why? I hear a noise upstairs and then Three children start to cry.
Catastrophe eleven comes, Then goes. I give a smile. But number twelve? "Dear Lord, please no. Just wait a little while."
The twelfth one waits till bedtime, So the miracle is done! The day is almost over now-- The end of all my fun.
The house is finally quiet, And I hear the Spirit say, "Just thank the Lord you made it Through another toddler day!"

Autumn Bliss

Does life get any better than this? I spent two weeks in Connecticut with new grandbabies and old...got to spend quality time with my kids...got to drive around and enjoy the beauty of that state...got to see some old friends...missed all the rain (it was just starting as I left)and made it home just in time for a busy two weeks here in Kansas. We went out to dinner with old friends from Connecticut who now live here...I taught my parenting class (which I love)...taught at Enrichment Meeting (which I love)...went to a three-day sewing expo (from 8am to 9pm each day!) just 10 minutes from home and learned all kinds of fun new things...and went to a special stake dinner and fireside to hear an excellent talk on Joseph Smith given by a professor from Columbia University. Today I am having lunch with friends and FHE tonight with a group in our ward...I'm getting ready for this week's parenting class and then...Time Out for Women is here at the Kansas City Convention Center on Saturday! Another full day with friends and my FAVORITE speakers (Sheri Dew, Mary Ellen Edmunds, Carolyn Rasmus, S. Michael Wilcox and Wendy Watson, plus Michael and Jeff McLean will be performing!) I have two lunches scheduled with friends next week as well. Such fun!
The weather here is perfect! Our little farm is beginning to take shape on paper and we will seek county approval in two to three weeks. SOME kind of adventure lies ahead for Dad and I...we just don't know what yet. Whatever it is...I know it will be exciting and challenging and new! No one ever told me that being 56 could be so much fun! It is autumn, both in earthly season and in my life season, and I'm loving it...just in case you wanted to know.
